Privacy Policy
What we collect, what we never do, and your rights — in plain language.
The short version
FreeDatalytics is an educational publication about privacy-first analytics, and we practice what we write about. We do not run invasive trackers, sell data, or build advertising profiles of our visitors. This page explains, in plain language, what little we do collect and why.
Who we are
This website is operated under the name FreeDatalytics. Our website address is https://freedatalytics.com. If you have any question about this policy, contact us via the contact page.
What we collect
- Contact messages. If you use our contact form, we receive the name, email address and message you submit so we can reply. We use this only to respond to you.
- Comments. If commenting is enabled and you leave a comment, we store the comment, your chosen name, email and (optionally) website, plus your IP address and browser user-agent to help with spam detection.
- Basic server logs. Like most websites, our hosting keeps standard request logs (IP address, timestamp, requested page) for security and reliability. These are not used to profile or track individuals across sites.
- Privacy-respecting analytics. Where we measure aggregate traffic, we favour cookieless, anonymised methods that do not identify individual visitors or follow them around the web.
What we do not do
- We do not sell or rent your personal data to anyone.
- We do not run cross-site advertising or behavioural tracking pixels.
- We do not build advertising or marketing profiles of our readers.
Cookies
If you leave a comment, you may opt in to saving your name, email and website in cookies for your convenience. If you log in to the site (editors only), we set session cookies to keep you signed in. We do not set third-party advertising cookies.
How long we keep data
Contact-form messages are retained only as long as needed to handle your enquiry. Comments and their metadata are retained indefinitely so follow-up replies make sense. You can ask us to delete personal data we hold about you at any time.
Your rights
If you are in the EU/EEA, the UK, California or another region with data-protection laws, you have the right to access, correct, export or delete the personal data we hold about you. To exercise any of these rights, contact us through the contact page and we will respond within a reasonable timeframe.
Third parties
Embedded content from other websites (for example images or videos) behaves as if you visited that other site directly, and those sites may collect data about you under their own policies. We keep such embeds to a minimum.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as our practices or the law evolve. Material changes will be reflected on this page. Questions are always welcome via our contact page.
